I strongly prefer using ITHVNR and Translation Aggregator to get my game text compared to struggling with VNR which my old laptop can’t handle, and doesn’t even work after the latest Windows 10 updates. The appeal of ITHVNR is that it is able to hook the games that VNR could (be it PC or PSP) and some more, and it is NOWHERE as resource intensive, it looks like exactly the same as old ITH and is super lightweight. (Thanks to Artikash, the developer for textractor) Multiple people have contributed to the effort, but you can download latest version of ITHVNR from here. Option 1: Using ITHVNRīecause ITH has been a reliable JP text hooker for a long time, people created an updated version of ITH using the same hooking engine as VNR called ITHVNR. I’ll cover my experiences with it in a future post. Feel free to check out the step by step manual here. Now I have found 2 possible options that still work in 2020 and would like to share them with you all □ĮDIT: After I published this post, I found that there have been improvements to the Cheat Engine workaround and it can be considered a valid alternative to ITHVNR/Textractor for tricky games. Back in 2014 the closest thing I had found was this awseome person’s blog where they made a custom text hooker exclusively for Daiya no Kuni no Alice and a more general workaround using Cheat Engine. ![]() I have been looking for VNR alternatives for a long time even when VNR was alive because of how resource intensive it was. Eventually there was a new server, but the software is still outdated and buggy, and windows 10 updates broke the program for me and many others. Until a few years back ,a lot of people including myself used VNR for this purpose, but after some time VNR support for PPSSPP came to a halt, and eventually the its server died (the offline program was partially dependent on it). The shortcut is made in the start menu, programs, applocale location.Extracting JP text from PSP games running on PPSSPP emulator was considered to be only a pipedream until the amazing Jiichi added PPSSPP support to his text hooker program Visual Novel Reader (VNR) back in July 2014. Makes it easier to access it for the next time. Hit "next" again and choose to create a shortcut for your configuration. In the next screen drop down the menu and select the most bottom (Japanese) 日本語 If you're an XP user, and don't see the Japanese language you probably made a mistake in step 2. Browse for the th_dnh.exe where you unpacked danmakufu. Run apploc.exe and select "Launch an application" and press the browse button. Also make sure you have your XP CD ready, because the system will ask for it when installing. Go to Start > Configuration screen > Region and Language. Windows XP users might need to install additional language packs to follow this guide properly. Turning this off and running the msi as administrator fixes the problem. Generally the problem is the 'UAC' control in Vista. ![]() It is extremely easy, just follow the steps. Go to THIS link and read how to work around the problem. ![]() ![]() Vista users will quickly bump into an error saying: "An error occurred, please contact bla bla bla". Windows 7 users can run the regular install method as well ( confirmed by: 'AweStriker Nova' ). XP users can simply run the msi installer. Watch the first half of it for AppLocale configuring. The AppLocale link is inside the FAQ thread, but I'll be nice to add it here one more time: Īdditionally, there is also a video tutorial right here. So it is time for a tutorial again to kind of prevent this from happening "too much". It seems due to increasing newcomers in the world of Danmakufu, we seem to have the same questions being asked over and over: "Help I cannot run Dnh". AppLocale is no longer downloadable on the Microsoft site.
